About us
The Community Centre was established by the Wellington City Council in 1992 and is used by over 40,000 people each year. Our mission is to create a space that can be used by all members of the community and have services set up to host a range of events.
We are a Wellington City Council owned facility run by Kilbirnie Lyall Bay Community Centre Incorporated. Tracy, the Centre Manager overseas the day to day operations of the Centre. Kathryn, the Drop In Manager runs the Drop In.

Public transport
Kilbirnie is the “hub” of the public bus system in Wellington, so the bus service is excellent.
Accessibility
We have a wheelchair ramp and parking located at the rear of the building.
Parking
The Centre has its own car parking area at the rear. There is also a NZ Post public car park adjacent to the Community Centre car park.
